What is different about your
Vraja Mandala Parikrama and the ISKCON Vraja Mandala Parikrama?
Our parikrama has about 500 devotees (ten times as many devotees) and
since it is not as physically demanding just about everybody finishes
our parikrama! Many devotees come with their whole families year
after year and would not miss it for anything! There are a lot of
great classes, kirtans, and prasadam and (unlike the other parikrama)
not a whole lot of walking. We mainly go by bus everywhere, and the
buses park as close as possible and we walk from there to the place
we're going. For the most part the longest walking is 15 - 20
minutes, but most of the time it is more like two to five minutes.
When we circumambulate Govardhan hill, we do it in two days, doing
one half the first day, returning to base, then the second half
including Radha Kund the next day. There is also one day in Varsana
where we do a parikrama around the Gharhavan area which takes a few
hours and includes some hills. Last year some devotees with health
problems hired porters to carry them. Taxis are also available to
hire for a daily rate or for the entire parikrama, and they can go
even closer than the buses. Really, nobody is ever left out!
There will be a daily schedule soon and we'll post it on the site as
soon as I receive it.
