There are some good trains that go from Kolkata to New Delhi everyday. Fares quoted are single (one-way) fares from Kolkata to New Delhi. Note: This list was compiled from the official Indian Railways web site. The Number 2303/2381 POORVA EXPRESS, leaves Howrah Station at 09:10 AM and is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi at 08:10 AM the following morning. Scheduled travel time is 23 hours. The train number for this train is 2303 on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and number 2381 the other days of the week. This train also stops at Barddhaman station at about 10:25 AM. It is also possible to get down from this train at Aligarh Junction which is closer to Mathura than Delhi, the scheduled arrival time there is 5:36 AM the following day. From Aligarh there are local trains (not listed on the Indian Railways website), buses, and taxis to Mathura which is about 50 kilometers away. The SL (non-AC sleeper) is Rs. 449. The three tier AC coach is Rs. 1208.
The Number 2311 HOWRAH - DELHI KALKA MAIL, leaves Howrah Station daily at 7:40 PM and is scheduled to arrive in Old Delhi Station (not the station nearest to Paharganj) at 7:50 PM the following evening. Scheduled travel time is 24 hours. This train also stops at Barddhaman station at about 9:00 PM. and Aligarh Junction at 5:05 PM the following day. The SL (non-AC sleeper) is Rs. 433. The three tier AC coach is Rs. 1163.
The 2301/2305 HOWRAH - DELHI RAJDHANI is the fastest and most expensive train and runs daily. It leaves Howrah Station at 4:15 PM and is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi at 9:50 AM the following morning. Scheduled travel time is 17.5 hours. The three tier AC coach is Rs. 1510.
On Sunday the departure time is 1:00 PM and the train number is 2305 and that train also arrives in New Delhi at 9:50 AM the following morning. Scheduled travel time is 21 hours. There are no SL class sleepers on this train, only AC coaches. This train doesn't stop at Barddhaman station. The three tier AC coach is Rs. 1560.
The 2313 SEALDAH - DELHI RAJDHANI is a fast train that departs from Sealdah Junction station in Kolkata, rather than across the river in Howrah which might be more convenient than the Howrah trains if you are staying in a hotel in Kolkata. It runs everyday except Wednesday and Saturday leaving Sealdah station at 4:35 PM and is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi at 10:50 AM the following morning. Scheduled travel time is 18 hours. The three tier AC coach is Rs. 1520.
One other train worth mentioning (so you can avoid it) is the 3007 TOOFAN EXPRESS. It usually takes 36 Hours (12 hours longer than the other trains) to reach New Delhi. It leaves Howrah Station at 09:40 AM and is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi at 9:15 PM the following evening. The SL (non-AC sleeper) is Rs. 433. According to their website, there are no three tier AC coaches on this train. Two tier AC is Rs. 1871.
