Festival 2006
Hong Kong, China
July 1st – 2nd, 2006
Srila Narayana Maharaja arrived in Hong Kong on June 22, 2006 from San Francisco. From the 22nd of June until July 1st he was primarily continuing his translation work of Rasa-pancadyayee (five chapters from the Srimad-Bhagavatam Tenth Canto concerning Lord Sri Krsna's pastimes with the gopis). He was also meeting with devotees once a day, especially the many new devotees from Hong Kong and mainland China.
On the morning of July 1st Srila Narayana Maharaja went to the bhakti-yoga temple called Sri Vinoda-bihari Gaudiya Matha. The devotees performed the foot-bathing ceremony and arati guru-puja, and then Srila Narayana Maharaja called on a few senior devotees to speak before he spoke about the real meaning of yoga.
On the evening of July 1st about 30 devotees, led by Krsna dasa brahmacari, went on harinama-sankirtana in one of the busiest shopping districts of Hong Kong. The streets were full with thousands of people because it was Independence Day. When they saw and heard the harinama party, they became extremely enlivened. They began dancing with the devotees and took pictures.
On the morning of July 2nd, initiations were held at Srila Narayana Maharaja's residence. Twenty-five devotees received harinama and 10 devotees received diksa. In the evening, Srila Narayana Maharaja gave a lecture in a public Hall, where he continued his discussion from the previous day about the real meaning of yoga. Over 150 devotees and guests were in attendance.
Srila Narayana Maharaja left for India on July 4th, where he will remain for several months. He invited all the devotees to come to Sri Vraja Mandala Parikrama from October 6th until November 6th.
