Govardhana - August 10-15, 2006
Tridandisvami Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja
After Baladeva Purnima, Srila Narayana Maharaja went to his temple in Govardhana, Sri Giriraja Govardhana Gaudiya Matha, to rest.
The atmosphere in Govardhana was very peaceful and serene. The temple is spacious and the air in Govardhana is clean. Every morning Srila Narayana Maharaja would go for a 45 minute walk, and then informally speak with devotees while walking back to his room. Also on the way to his room, he would enter the temple and offer respects to the beautiful deities – Sri Giriraja Govardhana, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Sri Radha-Vinoda-bihariji, and to his Guru Maharaja, Srila Bhaktiprajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja.
In the evenings Srila Narayana Maharaja would walk on the grass in the garden in front of the temple, and would also sit in the garden and chant for some time. About 50 devotees present in the temple, would also sit around the garden, on the temple stairs and elsewhere, and chant with him.
Srila Maharaja also gave a few darsanas in his room and held three initiation ceremonies.
A week before Srila Narayana Maharaja's coming to Govardhana, he requested Syamarani dasi to do paintings for the covers of his upcoming Hindi publications of Sri Damodarastakam, and Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura's Sri Bhagavat-Arka-Marici Mala. In the photo below, she is showing him a sketch of the composition for his approval.
On the morning of August 15, Srila Narayana Maharaja left for Mathura. He will spend 3 days there, celebrating Janmastami, Nandotsava, and the appearance day of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. .
After his short visit to Mathura, he will return to Govardhana
