Sripad BV Vaikhanas Maharaja joined Iskcon in Brooklyn, NY in 1971 and received Hari-nama and Diksa initiation from Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and given the name Janardana dasa. Later he was a member of the Radha-Damodara Traveling Sankirtana Party and served as Temple President in St. Louis and Houston. 

He met Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja in 1997 and in 2003, received the order to preach in Bangalore, India.  Sripad Vaikhanas Maharaja was given sannyasa in Vrindavana, India in March of 2004, along with the order to try to acquire land and build a temple in Bangalore.  In 2018, following the order of Srila Maharaja, the Sri Govinda Gaudiya Math was completed and the Deities of Sri Sri Radha Govinda and Sri Lalita Devi and Sri Vishaka Devi were installed.

Now Vaikhanas Maharaja is living in the USA, traveling around the country in a small RV, preaching to various devotee communities.
